STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's cross country team heads to New Jersey to compete in its final regular season race of the season, the Princeton Invitational. The race is set to begin at 10:45 am on Saturday, October 19th.
The Huskies return to action after competing in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University on October 5th. UConn finished 24th out of 39 teams competing in the race, with Junior Mia Nahom coming in as the top finisher for the Huskies. Nahom placed 36th out of 298 participants with a time of 20:40.
Sophomore's Randi Burr and Celia Chacko finished with times of 21:25 and 21:55 respectively. The Huskies top five was rounded out by Sophomore Kate Daley coming in at 22:03 and Freshman Caroline Webb who finished at 22:07.
"I'm excited for this weekend and to finally get the whole team in one race," said Head Coach Lindsay Crevoiserat. "We have been really focusing on working together and closing the gap between our 1-8 spread."
The Princeton Invitational is the Huskies' last tune-up before the conference championships. "We're not totally backing off for Princeton this weekend," said Crevoiserat. "We had a pretty good workout this week and really just want to be ready for conference."
"To be successful at conference, though, we need to close the gap between Mia Nahom and the rest of the team. Every workout and race is a step in the right direction as we keep adding consistent mileage."
