STORRS, Conn. - The No. 2 UConn field hockey team (19-3)Â came from behind to defeat No. 25 Fairfield (19-3) 2-1 in the First Round of the NCAA Championship on Friday afternoon at Sherman Family Sports Complex.
The Huskies trailed 1-0 entering the fourth quarter but it was Big East Offensive Player of the Year Svea Boker at the 49.16 mark to tie the game up at one a piece.Â
The senior forward was able to maneuver around a Stags defender and perfectly flip a shot into the upper part of the cage to draw the Huskies even. It is the 21st goal of the season for Boker.
The game remained tied forcing the Huskies into their third overtime game of the season. Freshman Sophie Hamilton quickly sent the Huskies on to the NCAA Second Round with her ninth goal of the season fifty seconds into the first overtime.Â
