Huskies End Fall Schedule at Florida Gulf Coast Tourney

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The UConn women's tennis team closed out the fall tournament schedule over the weekend competing in a blind dual match tournament at Florida Gulf Coast University. The Huskies faced student-athletes from FGCU, Purdue and Minnesota over the weekend at the Bonita Bay Tennis Club.
Sophomore Mireille Moreau (Warwick, Quebec) had a strong weekend with a pair of singles wins and a doubles victory. Moreau won a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Purdue's Seira Shimizu and also beat Minnesota's Tiffany Huber in three-sets, 7-5, 4-6 and 10-8. She teamed up with classmate Julieanne Bou (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) to post a 7-6 win over FGCU's Maja Ornberg adn Sara Kelly.
Rabines won a second doubles match on the weekend, teaming with freshman Doga Selen Takunyaci (Istanbul, Turkey) to win over Purdue's Zala Dovnik and Alex Sabe. Junior Elizabeth Kozyi (Alexander, Va.) picked-up a singles win over Ida Ferding of Florida Gulf Coast in three sets, 6-2, 5-7 and 10-6.
Freshman Denise Lai (Setauket, N.Y.) got a singles win, beating Purdue's Dovnik, 6-0 and 6-3.
