BOSTON - The UConn men's swimming and diving team captured a pair of dual meet victories on Saturday afternoon at Boston University.
The Huskies defeated the Terriers, 179-112, and Bryant University by a score of 178-119.
"After a challenging night of racing it was good to see the guys back racing with a short turnaround," said head coach Chris Maiello. "In preparation for mid-season and ultimately our conference championships this back to back competition weekend was really vital to our preparation. Overall we were a bit sharper today than yesterday, which is a positive sign that our training is in the right place. Our staff and athletes feel good about where we are at this point in the season. With a idle week next weekend, we can spend this week training hard and making a big push towards our mid-season invite."
Josh Wroblewski put together a solid day for the Huskies with a pair of wins in the 200 and 500 Freestyle.Â
"Josh is steadily having his best season this year and he is progressing nicely," said Maiello. "He works hard every day and it good to see Josh swim so well this weekend.  He is such a character on our team and it's fun to see him swim fast, he energizes our team in that aspect."
The men's relay teams had a solid day with the 200 Medley and 400 Free both capturing top spot finishes.
The UConn men collected 11 top times and all three male divers posted season-bests. Josh Bryant earned a pair of season-best times in the 50 Free (21.48) and 200 Breast (2:10.46)
On the boards, Justin Corres scored a 336.80 to win the 3M dive and earn a spot in the NCAA Zone Meet in March. Corres delivered a runner-up finish in the 1M.
Kyle Kennedy and Torrington Wagner placed second and third in the 3M with season-best scores of 274.70 and 264.30, respectively.
"On Friday, we had some great competition with Duke, Dartmouth, and BC," said head diving coach Josh Arndt, "The diving was at a high level and our divers stepped up to the plate and got the job done. We had a couple struggled dives, but the divers used the experience to come out and have a fantastic meet on Saturday. We had a 1-3 sweep on Men's and Women's 3 meter that resulted in Justin and Erin getting their zone cuts. The 1 meter events were great for us as well with Elizabeth getting her zone cut. We're in great shape moving forward and I'm excited about our progress so far."
Other notable winners for the Huskies came from Kyle Dunlap (100 Free) and Will Kearsey (50 Free) .
UConn returns to the water against Brown on Saturday, November 23 in Providence.
