Reese Guevarra Receives November Husky High Five Honor

STORRS, Conn. – Junior outfielder Reese Guevarra has been recognized as a Student Athlete Success Program (SASP) Husky High Five recipient for the month of November.
The Husky High Fives recognizes UConn student-athletes that demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, growth and improvement in their commitment to succeeding in the classroom, their sport, and/or in the area of service and leadership. This award recognizes and honors students who have achieved success in these areas through hard work and dedication. When selecting the Husky High Five winners, they are selected on the criteria of demonstrating significant achievement in their coursework despite various challenges and showing growth in the areas of academics, personal development, leadership and service.
As a sophomore, Guevarra started 48 of the 49 games she played in, accumulating a .329 batting average en route to scoring 31 runs, 46 hits, seven doubles, four home runs, 19 RBIs and 65 total bases through 140 at-bats. The New City, N.Y. native registered a slugging percentage of .464 with an on-base percentage of .440 – the highest on the team. Defensively, she had 63 putouts while fielding at a .969 clip.
Additionally, the Second Team All-Conference selection ended the 2019 season in a tie for first in the UConn single season batting record books for bases on balls (29), while also ranking fourth in the conference and 137th in the NCAA for walks.
