PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The UConn swimming and diving team wrapped up its final day of competition for the fall semester on day four of the Rutgers Invite.
Freshmen Gavin Moak provided the top performance on the men's side with a first place finish in the 1650 Free and runner-up spot in the 200 Fly.
The Austin, Texas native posted career-bests in each event with a 1:51.82 mark in the 200 Fly and an NCAA B Qualifying time of 15:25.89 in the 1650 Free.
"It was a great day/night for the team. We continue to develop and on our 4th day of racing our team charged hard toward the end of the meet, said head coach Chris Maiello. "Specifically speaking the men's and women's 1650 got the night off to a great start. Gavin's win in the mile was a monumental swim for him and our team. We are excited for his continued development and are looking for more big things from him to come, he has had a great meet."
The Huskies dominated the 1650 Free with North Hansen (2nd), McAllistar Milne (3rd) and Nick Falder (5th) all putting together quality races to reach career-best marks.
Orry Zayit notched a first place finish in the 200 Fly with a season-best 1:49.72 time. Jason Lee (3rd), Jack Gray (5th), Will Mudlaff (6th) and McAllistar Milne (8th) all reached season-best times en route to the Huskies dominating the A-Final.
Josh Bryant (200 Breast) and Kyle Dunlap (100 Free) both recorded runner-up finishes in their respective events.
"Our divers closed out the Rutgers Invite with a great showing on platform, said head diving coach Josh Arndt. "This was our first time on platform this semester and the team took it in strides as the men dove to a 2-3-4 finish with Torry Wagner obtaining a 2nd place finish with a score of 233.50. On the women's side, Alyssa Annenberg and Erin Clifford finished 6th and 7th, respectively. Overall, I am happy with our performances and we know where we need to improve moving into the championship season."
