Malik Snead Named AAC Field Athlete of the Week

STORRS, Conn. - UConn senior co-captian Malik Snead (Trenton, N.J.) was named the American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

Snead, the defending conference indoor triple jump champion, recorded a distance of 15.78 meters (51'9.25") to win the New England title on Saturday. His mark, which tied the meet record formally held by another Husky, ranks 18th nationally and leads The American by over one foot. His first-place finish helped UConn win its 24th New England Championship, topping a field of 28 regional teams at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Snead and the rest of the Huskies are in action this weekend when they take part in the David Hemry Valentine invitational at Boston University on Saturday.
