Richard Hamilton Scheduled To Return For '99 Celebration

STORRS, Conn. – Richard Hamilton, named the Most Outstanding Player of the 1999 Final Four as he led the UConn men's basketball team to its first NCAA National Championship, is scheduled to return to Connecticut to join with his former teammates at the 1999 Men's Basketball National Championship Celebration on Sunday, Feb. 24.
Hamilton, still the second-leading scorer in UConn history (2,036 points), is scheduled to join Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun, Kevin Freeman, Khalid El-Amin, Jake Voskuhl, Rashamel Jones, and other coaches and players from that team as they gather to celebrate the 20th anniversary of UConn's first men's basketball NCAA crown with each other and Husky Nation.
The event will take place during UConn's American Athletic Conference game against No. 25 Cincinnati on Feb. 24 at the XL Center in Hartford, with tipoff scheduled at 2 p.m.
Video clips and audio clips will be played throughout the game and members of the 1999 team will be introduced at halftime as fans relive the march through the NCAA Tournament that included wins over Texas-San Antonio, New Mexico, Iowa, Gonzaga, and Final Four triumphs over Ohio State and Duke at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. A commemorative poster will be distributed to fans at the game as well.
