NEW YORK, N.Y. - The 112th NYRR Millrose Games got underway on Thursday at The Armory in New York City and the Huskies had a presence with junior Cameron Thompson (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) competing in the weight throw.
Thompson had one of his best outings of the season, taking fourth place at the prestigious meet. The junior was just shy of matching his personal best set earlier this indoor season, unleashing a throw of 17.88 meters (58'8"). He set a new PR earlier this season when he had a throw of 17.90 meters (58'8.75") at the Beantown Challenge. Thompson is currently sixth in the American Athletic Conference rankings heading toward the conference championship in two weeks.
"This was a great performance by Cam today," said head coach Greg Roy. "You know, he has been known as more of a hammer throw guy but with the performances he has put up this season in the weight, that's really not the case anymore."
The Huskies will be back in action on Saturday when they head up to Boston University for the David Hemry Valentine Invitational.
