INDIANAPOLIS – Senior captain Monica Marcello shattered The American Conference record in the 3M dive to cap night three of The American Championships.
In her final event, her last chance to capture gold Marcello scored an American Conference record on 349.20 knocking off the previous record of 335.65 set in 2015. Marcello crushed the field with the runner-up recording a 309.05 mark. This coming just a year after the Middletown, Conn. native had to sit out because of injury and patiently wait for her return. All that hard work paid off with a victory on Friday night.

"She stepped up in a tough field and took the lead in round one and never looked back," said head diving coach John Bransfield. "She was as hot as a pistol but was cool on the inside. On her final dive she had to do a dive that she hit the board on in Prelims, which knocked her out of first going into the finals. But she got her head in a good spot and crushed it to win by a huge margin."
Junior Katie Breault nearly reached the podium in the 100 Fly with a fourth place finish in 54.53. Jackie Van Lew (200 Free, 8th), Katelyn Walsh (100 Breast, 7th) and Georgia Apostolu (100 Back, 7th) all claimed top-eight spots on night three.
