Updates to Women’s Basketball Season Ticket Procurement Included
STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut Division of Athletics announced the new 2019-20 Scholarship Seating Program for men's and women's basketball season ticket holders. The new model will include a seat donation requirement to purchase men's basketball season tickets and active Husky Athletic Fund membership to purchase women's basketball tickets in select areas for the 2019-20 season.
Under this new arrangement, 100 percent of per-seat donations will fund scholarships for student-athletes.
"UConn athletics is continuously striving to compete for NCAA championships and national recognition, and the exclusive points system model we have been using for over 30 years, has become inefficient and antiquated," director of athletics David Benedict said. "Employing a seat donation model will allow us to generate additional resources and help meet the rising cost of scholarships for our student athletes, while priority points will remain important for upgrades, parking and away/post season tickets."
Under the updated programs, season ticket holders will no longer be subject to re-seating each year, with an option to participate in a voluntary seat relocation and upgrade process. Once the tickets have been purchased, season ticket holders will retain the seats as long as annual gift requirements are met:
- Men's basketball season tickets will now carry a per-seat donation.
- For women's basketball, a per-seat contribution is not required. However, season ticket account holders in select sections are required to be members of the Husky Athletic Fund with a minimum $100 contribution.
