Collier Named Wooden Award All-American

LOS ANGELES – UConn senior forward Napheesa Collier was tabbed as a Wooden Award All-American, as announced by the Los Angeles Club Wednesday. The five Wooden Award All-Americans are finalists for the 2019 John R. Wooden Award.
This season, Collier leads the Huskies with 21.0 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. She has 24 double-doubles on the season, the most for a UConn player. Collier is also shooting 61.5 percent from the field. The O'Fallon, Mo., native is UConn's single-season rebounds record holder with 398 this year. She was tabbed the American Athletic Conference's Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Collier was named the NCAA Tournament Albany Region Most Outstanding Player.
Collier was named a First Team All-American by the AP and USBWA earlier this week.
The other Wooden Award finalists are Asia Durr (Louisville), Megan Gustafson (Iowa), Sabrina Ionescu (Oregon) and Teaira McCowan (Mississippi State).
The 43rd annual presentation of the John R. Wooden Award to the men's and women's most outstanding college basketball player will be the anchor presentation of the ESPN College Basketball Awards Presented by Wendy's on ESPN2 on Friday, April 12, 2019. The men's and women's John R. Wooden Award All American Teams will be honored during the ceremony, and the 2019 Wooden Award Legends of Coaching Trophy will be presented to Lon Kruger, Head Men's Basketball Coach at Oklahoma.
