NORMAN, Okla. – The UConn men's golf team has again been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America and 18Birdies as an All-Academic Team, signifying a team grade point average of 3.0 or better for the 2018-19 school year.
UConn is coming off an outstanding competitive season, during which it collected six Top Five finishes in 11 events, including a team championship in the UConn Collegiate Invitational. The Huskies finished lower than seventh place only once and tied their best-ever finish of sixth in the American Athletic Conference Championship.
Following the season, UConn was named Team of the Year and Coach Dave Pezzino was honored as the Coach of the Year when the New England Division I golf coaches voted for the 2019 All-New England Division I Golf Awards.
The Huskies also earned their share of academic honors. They were named to receive their 14th consecutive NCAA Public Recognition Award, which is given to teams posting an Academic Progress Report in the top 10 percent of teams nationally. UConn also placed eight student-athletes on the American Conference All-Academic Team.
St. Francis of Brooklyn was named the Division I 18Birdies Academic Champion.
