HARTFORD, Conn. – The 23rd-ranked UConn men's soccer team suffered its first setback of the season, dropping a 2-1 decision to Farleigh Dickinson Friday night at Al-Marzook Field.
UConn came out of the gates extremely aggressive as they controlled the possession for the majority of the opening 20 minutes. The Huskies broke through in the 19th minute on Jordan Hall's sixth strike of the season, assisted by Dayonn Harris and freshman Thomas Decottignies. Harris, racing down the far sideline, sent a cross towards Decottignies and the Frenchman touch-passed the ball back to Hall, who capped off the play to give the Huskies a 1-nil advantage at 18:21.
FDU answered back at 27:55 with a goal from Adrian Barajas, then took a 2-1 lead following Diego Arribas' tally at 30:55.
Down one, UConn continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, nearly finding the equalizer off the head of Robin Lapert. The junior captain received a perfect pass from Harris' serve, but his header at 87:56 sailed just high of the net.
Harris had an opportunity to knot the game up a few minutes earlier with a curling wrap-around shot inside the box, but the FDU keeper pushed the ball just outside the post.
