American Athletic Conference Reveals Preseason Poll

STORRS, Conn. — As per the American Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, voted on by the league's head coaches, the UConn softball team was selected to finish eighth in the league, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
USF and Wichita State claimed the top two spots after receiving first place votes.
The Bulls enter the season as 'reigning champions' after claiming the 2019 American Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 17-4 league mark (41-19) and advanced to its 15th NCAA Championship.
UConn ended the 2019 Softball season with a 21-29 record and an 8-13 mark in AAC play. The Huskies finished sixth in the conference, two spots higher than their preseason projection.
Head Coach Laura Valentino enters her first year at the helm as the Huskies look to begin their 2020 campaign. The addition of four new Huskies add to an already deep and versatile roster that features 17 returners.
UConn opens the season in Fort Myers, Fla, where the Huskies will compete in the FGCU Softball Tournament hosted by Florida Gulf Coast from February 7-9. The Huskies head back to Florida the following weekend (Feb. 14-16), this time making the stop in Clermont.
