Reid Inducted to Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame

STORRS, Conn. – UConn men's soccer head coach Ray Reid has been inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame and will be a member of the Class of 2020, as announced by the SSHOF Thursday afternoon. The Ceremony will be held on May 26, 2020 at the Watermill Inn in Smithtown, N.Y. from 5-9 pm.
This is Reid's fourth Hall of Fame, as he's previously been inducted into the Brentwood High School, Southern Connecticut State and Connecticut State Soccer Hall of Fame's
"I am honored to be inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame," said Reid. "I have been blessed to have had fantastic assistant coaches and so many top quality players over the years."
In his 31 years as a college head coach Reid's record as a college head coach stands at 450-142-76, a 73.1% winning effort, which ranks him No. 3 in the nation in overall winning percentage among all NCAA active head coaches. Reid has sent more than 40 players to the MLS, including three number one picks.
His brilliant head coaching resume includes 25 NCAA Tournament appearances, 13 NCAA National Quarterfinals and four NCAA National Championships---the 2000 NCAA Division I National Championship at UConn, and the 1990, 1992 and 1995 NCAA Division II National Championships at Southern Connecticut State University.
Other notable members of the Class of 2020 are Kenny Atkinson (Head Coach, Brooklyn Nets), Allie Long (U.S. Women's National Soccer Team and Joe Spallina (Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, Stony Brook).
Last year Bob Costas (Sportscaster, MLB Network), Gary Bettman (NHL Commissioner) and former UConn women's basketball star and two-time national champion Bria Hartley (New York Liberty) were inducted as part of the Class of 2019.
