No. 3 Huskies to Host Creighton Thursday

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 3 UConn women's basketball team (2-0, 1-0 BIG EAST) returns to Gampel Pavilion to host Creighton (2-3, 1-0) Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The game will air on SNY and 97-9 ESPN.

The Huskies are coming off a 92-65 win over Seton Hall to open BIG EAST play Tuesday. Freshman Paige Bueckers continued her hot start to the season with 25 points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals. Junior Olivia Nelson-Ododa notched her first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Christyn Williams (21) and freshman Aaliyah Edwards (17) also scored in double digits.

UConn and Creighton have faced each other just once before, in a 96-60 Connecticut win on Nov. 23, 2014.

Creighton last played Monday, picking up a 78-62 win over Nebraska. This season, Temi Carda leads the Bluejays with 14.8 points per game while Tatum Rembao is averaging 14.0.

UConn rejoined the BIG EAST on July 1, 2020. As members of the conference from 1982-2013, Connecticut won 19 regular season and 18 tournament league titles.

The Huskies are in the middle of a stretch of four games in eight days to start the season. After Thursday, UConn will host Xavier Saturday at 1 p.m.
