WSwim 200 Freestyle Relay Team Sets New Best Time

HOUSTON, Texas – The 200 freestyle relay team set a new best time, coming in at 1:33.43. The team bested their prelim time of 1:33.84 and took fifth place in the final event.
Junior Ryan Dulaney set a new best time in the prelim 500 freestyle, coming in at 4:54.73. Dulaney would beat her previous best in the finals with a time of 4:54.47, placing fifth in her heat and 13th overall.
"Today was a day where we improved from the morning into the night. It's good to see race adjustments take shape during finals," said head coach Chris Maiello.
"We are in a real tight points race on both sides. We need to be a bit sharper in the morning so we can be in a position to score points at night."
Two Huskies made the finals for the 200 individual medley race. A pair of seniors, Katie Breault (2:04.44) and Megan Wenman (2:05.52) set a new best times in the prelims. Breault and Wenman both beat their previous bests in the event finals, coming in with times of 2:03.49 and 2:02.43, respectively.
Senior Brazil Rule and sophomore Linnea Anderson qualified for the 50 freestyle finals held Thursday evening. Both swimmers set personal best times in the prelim event. Rule and Anderson competed in separate heats and both finished with a time of 23.57. In the event finals, Anderson finished at 23.54 and Rule came in at 23.72.
In the 1 meter dive finals, junior Elizabeth Drab was the top finisher for UConn, placing 11th with a score of 249.05, beating her prelim score of 230.75. Fellow junior Erin Clifford placed 12th with a score of 248.75, also beating her prelim score. Kamrin Dawkins took 14th with a score 229.90.
"The women stepped up today to help score some points for our team," said head diving coach Josh Arndt. "We had Elizabeth, Erin, and Kamrin hold their own in a strong field and bring home a 3rd, 4th, and 6th place finish in the console finals. And we had Alyssa round out the team, finishing 19th in the prelim."
