Walker, Makurat Sweep American Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After helping the UConn women's basketball team to two conference wins last week and the American regular season trophy, junior Megan Walker and freshman Anna Makurat swept the American Athletic Conference's weekly honors as Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
Walker averaged 19.0 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 54.5 from three. In a 74-31 win over Tulane, she scored 18 points on 66.7 percent shooting. In a 66-53 win over UCF, Walker notched 20 points and 11 rebounds. It was her ninth double-double of the season and her 13th game with 20 or more points.
This is Walker's fourth American Player of the Week honor this season.
Makurat averaged 17.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 65 percent from the field and 50 percent from three. Against Tulane, she tallied 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals. Against UCF, she scored 17 points, all in the second half.
This is Makurat's third American Freshman of the Week honor.
