Huskies Add Five to Round out 2020 Class

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn football team received National Letters of Intent from five future Huskies on Wednesday to round out its 25-player class, as announced by head coach Randy Edsall .
The class consists of 22 incoming freshmen and three JUCO transfers. 10 players will be mid-year enrollees in January. 23 players hail from 13 different states while two players are from Canada. Florida produced the most signees with five players calling the sunshine state home.
Marques Alexander | DL | St. Petersburg, Fla. | Lakewood
High School: Played at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Fla. for head coach Cory Moore. Totaled 62 career tackles, 19.0 tackles for loss, seven sacks and three fumble recoveries in 21 career games. Served as a team captain at Lakewood.
Reyan Blake | DB | Loxahatchee, Fla.| Seminole Ridge
High School: Played running back and defensive back for head coach Rick Casko at Seminole Ridge High School. Participated in 2019 Palm Beach County High School All-Star football game. Honored as an All-Conference selection and served as a team captain at Palm Beach County HS. Scored three touchdowns and earned a Palm Beach County player of the week nod in a year that included 38 tackles for Seminole Ridge.
Brian Brewton | RB | Fort Lauderdale, Fla. | St. Thomas Aquinas
High School: Played at St. Thomas Aquinas High School for head coach Roger Harriott primarily at wide receiver, running back and return man. Combined for 43 carries for 344 yards and seven touchdowns during career. Added 12 receptions for 82 yards and totaled 524 kick return yards. Helped his team win the 2019 state championship and served as a team captain for St. Thomas Aquinas.
Darius Bush | WR | Savannah, Ga. | Jenkins
High School: Played football and baseball at Jenkins High School in Savannah, Ga. for head coach Jason Cameron. At wide receiver and defensive back, Bush recorded 50 receptions for 673 yards and seven touchdowns. Added 25 carries for 172 yards and one score. Totaled 43 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three interceptions and five passes defended. Led Jenkins to the state semifinals in 2019 during his senior season.
Nate Carter | RB | Irondequoit, N.Y.| Bishop Kearney
High School: Attended Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester, N.Y. and played for head coach Rick Gause. As a junior he rushed for 1,259 yards and 15 touchdowns while hauling in two receiving touchdowns. He posted 62 tackles on defense and 360 return yards to earn second team All-Greater Rochester honors. Garnered first team All-Greater Rochester honors and earned team MVP honors while serving as a senior captain in 2019. Member of the National Honor Society and served as a team captain.
Alfred Chea | DB | Jacksonville, Fla.| First Coast
High School: Played in the secondary at First Coast High School for head coach Marty Lee. Had 54 tackles in 6 games as well as 6 PBUs, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. Was a Super 11 Top 40 recruit (No. 29) out of Northeast Florida. Served as a team captain at First Coast for the 2019 season.
Zack Early | OL | Perry, Ohio| Perry
High School: Played for head coach Matt Rosati at Perry High School and served as a team captain. Two-year starter at tackle.
MarQuayveon Evans | DL | Chester, S.C.| Chester
High School: Played for head coach Victor Floyd at Chester High School. Totaled 47 tackles, four sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 18 quarterback hurries during senior season at Chester. Ranked second on the team with 31 quarterback hurries during his junior season. Added seven tackles for loss, two sacks and team-high five forced fumbles. Served as a team captain at Chester HS.
Tui Faumina-Brown | LB | Monroeville, Pa. | Gateway
High School: Lettered four seasons under Don Holl at Gateway High School. Earned All-State accolades at linebacker and tight end. Two-time WPIAL Champion. Lettered two seasons in basketball. Caught a team-best 45 passes for 587 yards and nine touchdowns. He also had 45 tackles, three sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery for a Gateway team that won the WPIAL Class 5A title.
Desmond Fogle | LB | Kingsland, Ga.| Camden County
High School: Played at Georgia powerhouse high school Camden County for four seasons under head coach Bob Sphire. Collected 219 career tackles including career-high 99 during senior season. Registered 19.0 tackles for loss, eight sacks and 10 quarterback hurries. Added two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Earned Second Team All-Region status after junior season despite missing half the season. Honored as an All-Region linebacker and 912 Defensive Player of the Year. Served as a team captain at Camden County.
Christopher Fortin | OL | Beauceville, QC. | Cegep Beauce-Appalaches High School: Played for head coach Marc Loranger at Cegep Beauce-Appalaches. Was named best offensive lineman in the league after the 2019 season. Two-time RSEQ Division II All-Star. Was a Gold medalist with Team Canada at the U19 IFAF World Championships. Helped his high school team capture back-to-back championships.
Nick Harris | DL | Marriotsville, Md. | Marriotts Ridge
High School: Played football and basketball at Marriotts Ridge High School. Played football for head coach Marcus Lewis. Served as a team captain and led Marriotts Ridge to its first conference championship in school history. Recorded 41 Tackles, six tackles for loss, six sacks and blocked two kicks.
Brendan Heatherman | TE | Stafford, Va. | Mountain View
High School: Played for head coach Lou Sorrentino at Mountain View High School. First Team All-District and First Team All-Region. Third Team All-NoVa.
Carter Hooper | DL | Toronto, Ont. | IMG Academy (Fla.)
High School: Played for head coach Kevin Wright at IMG Academy. Totaled 32 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks in 12 career games. Helped lead team to No. 8 national ranking and claimed the top spot in the state of Florida.
Devontae Houston | RB | Roanoke, Ala. | Handley
High School: Lettered for head coach Tony Whidden at Handley High School. Averaged 7.9 yards per carry with 503 yards rushing and three touchdowns as a freshman. Recorded 19 tackles, one interception and two passes defended during his junior year. During senior season, compiled 2,819 all-purpose yards and 33 touchdowns. Named 2019 First Team All-State and 2019 County Player of the Year (Randolph Leader)
Durante Jones | DB | Atlanta, Ga. | Mays
High School: Played for head coach Niketa Battle at Mays High School. Earned All-State and All-City accolades. Produced 42 tackles. 10 INTs, 12 PBU's, blocked 3 FG's and scored a pair of touchdowns during his senior campaign.
Keelan Marion | WR | Conyers, Ga.| Palmetto Prep (S.C.)
High School: Finished his high school career playing for head coach Christian Hunnicutt at Grayson High School. Played one season at Palmetto Prep in Columbia, S.C. for head coach Tony Labozzetta in 2019 and caught four TD passes. Posted five touchdowns in three playoff games after returning from injury during 2018 season. Hauled in 47 catches for 363 yards and four touchdowns during his junior campaign. Lettered in basketball. Served as a team captain at Palmetto Prep.
Colin McCarthy | DL | Jackson Township, N.J.| Jackson Memorial
High School: Played for head coach Vinnie Mistretta at Jackson Memorial High School. Accumulated 250 career tackles in three seasons at Jackson Memorial. Registered 104 tackles for loss including a career-high 46 during his senior season. Collected 34 career sacks, 40 quarterback hurries, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Totaled a career-best 18 sacks during the 2019 season. Named First Team All-Division after sophomore season. Unanimous 2018 First Team All Shore selection. His 11 sacks in 2018 led The Shore Conference and his 43 tackles for loss ranked first in the state of New Jersey. Honored as the New Jersey Defensive Player of the Year by the Star Ledger. Served as a team captain at Jackson Memorial.
Personal: His father, Mike, played football for the Huskies from 1990-1993.
Brandon Niemenski | TE | Mountaintop, Pa.| Crestwood
High School: Lettered three seasons under head coach Ryan Archangeli at Crestwood High School. Accumulated 1,100 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns during high school career. Was named to All-Conference and All-Area teams. Lettered one season in basketball. Served as a team captain at Crestwood.
Robby Rochester | OL | Southlake, Texas| Southlake Carroll
High School: Played on the offensive line at prestigious Texas high school power Southlake Carrol High School for head coach Riley Dodge. The Dragon offense rushed for an average of 213 yards per game and rushed for 2,977 yards for the season, as well as throwing for 4,025 yards behind the offensive line during the 2019 season. Rochester led his team to a 7-0 district record and a 13-1 overall record. Southlake Carroll made it to the state quarterfinals during the 2019 season.
Jonathan Senecal | QB | Montreal, QC.| College Andre-Grasset
High School: Played for head coach Tony Iadeluca at College Andre-Grasset. Combined to throw for 5885 yards and 58 touchdowns during 2017 and 2018 seasons. Team won the Bol d'Or championship in 2018. Prior to Andre-Grasset, put together a successful high school career at College Laval where he won three league championships and was a two-time MVP selection. Served as a team captain.
Sidney Walker | OL | Crestview, Fla. | Kilgore College (Texas)
Prior to UConn: Played two seasons at Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas for head coach Willie Gooden. Was named a 2019 NJCAA All-American honorable mention. The Kilgore offense averaged 35 points a game with Walker on the offensive line and totaled 232 rush yards and 485 total yards a game.
Tre Wortham | DB | Stockton, Calif. | Delta College
Before UConn: Played for head coach Gary Barlow at Delta College in Stockton, Calif. Three-time First Team All-League/Conference in high school at Bear Creek in Stockton, Calif. Posted 30 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and five interceptions in 10 games as a freshman. Followed it up with 44 Tackles, 4.5 TFL's, 1 Fumble Recovery, 1 INT and 14 PBU's in 2019.
Alex Wyant | OL | Santa Ana, Calif.| Orange Coast College
Prior to UConn: Played two seasons at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Calif for head coach Bubba Gonzalez. Started 16 games in two years at OCC. Was a 2nd team All-Conference selection in 2019. Had 18 Pancake blocks this past year. Won the MIke Musso Award for Character in 2019.
Remon Young | OL | Moultrie, Ga. | Colquitt County
High School: Lettered three seasons under head coach Justin Rodgers at Colquitt County High School. Named to the All-Region First and Second Team during high school career. Served as a team captain and earned All-State honorable mention. Member of the National Honor Society. Attended the same high school as UConn quarterback Steve Krajewski.
