Boker Represents Big East Field Hockey as Excellence Award Winner

NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference has announced the winners of the 2019-20 BIG EAST Sport Excellence Awards, which recognize academic and athletic achievement as well as community service.
UConn graduate Svea Boker was selected by the conference to represent the sport of field hockey.
The BIG EAST Sport Excellence Awards are given to one student-athlete in each BIG EAST-sponsored sport based on academic credentials, athletic accolades or performances and volunteer service to the community. Student-athletes who have attained junior academic standing and a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 are eligible. The winners are chosen by the BIG EAST Faculty Athletics Representative Council.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, winners for the Sport Excellence awards were only chosen for the fall and winter championship sports. Of the list of 12 honorees, 11 are seniors with one junior. Nine were or have been BIG EAST Players of the Year or BIG EAST Championship winners.
Boker earned Longstreth/NFHCA All-American First Team in 2019 after leading the Huskies with 21 goals, 55 points, 91 shots and four game-winning goals. Her 21 goals and 55 points both ranked fourth in the country. The Bremen, Germany native earned Big East Offensive Player of the Year honors along with earning Big East Tournament Most Outstanding Player accolades after scoring two goals in the Big East Championship game.
Boker was a First Team All-Conference performer and finishes her career all over the UConn record books with her 55 career assists (3rd), 163 points (5th) and 55 goals (8th) while helping the Huskies win the 2017 National Championship with a perfect 23-0 record.
Boker NFHCA Mideast Player of the Year honors and was a finalist for the prestigious Honda Award.
