Huskies Beat Fort Hays State, 111-47, in Exhibition

STORRS, Conn. – The second-ranked UConn women's basketball team tallied a 111-47 win over fourth-ranked Fort Hays State in the Huskies' only exhibition Sunday afternoon in Gampel Pavilion.
The Huskies competed in front of UConn fans for the first time since March 2020, welcoming back 8,488 fans into Gampel.
The Huskies showed off a balanced offense vs. the Tigers as six players finished with double-digit points. Senior Christyn Williams led the way with 20 points while sophomore Aaliyah Edwards notched 17 and graduate student Dorka Juhász had 15.
UConn started the game aggressively, outscoring FHSU 33-4 in the first quarter. After a closer second and third quarters, the Huskies outscored the Tigers 32-7 in the fourth.
Sophomore Paige Bueckers picked up where she left off last season, dishing out nine assists and adding five steals.
Juhász and freshman Azzi Fudd, Caroline Ducharme and Amari DeBerry saw their first game action in a UConn uniform. Juhász led the team with eight rebounds while Ducharme scored 10 points in the fourth quarter.
UConn had 72 points in the paint and 49 bench points. Nine players notched 15 or more minutes in the game.
The Huskies begin the 2021-22 season officially next Sunday, Nov. 14. UConn hosts Arkansas at the XL Center at 1 p.m.
