STORRS, Conn. - The UConn track & field program had student-athletes competing at home in Storrs and on the road at the Virginia Tech Classic this weekend.
At the Virigina Tech Challenge, the Huskies had athletes competing in the men's and women's 400 meters and the women's long jump. On Friday night, senior Taylor Woods (Marlboro, Md.) finished second in the event with a best jump of 5.91 meters (19'4.75").
In the women's 400 meters, junior Shanelle Colmon (East Brunswick, N.J.) finished second in the finals, clocking in at 55.48 to post a new personal best.
For the men, the Huskies finished 1-2 in the 400 meters as junior Noah Woodman (Hampstead, N.H.) took the top-spot in a with a new PR time of 47.11 and classmate Wellington Ventura (Cresskill, N.J.) was on his heels in 47.43 seconds.
"Taylor in the long jump, it was fast runway, little adjustment but she just missed out on that big jump today," said Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Greg Roy. "In the 400, we did a really good job. Noah with a big PR and Wellington ran a really solid race. Shanelle ran well, and after I talked to her and she felt she was a little too conservative.  Still, a PR first time out, she ran really well."
