UConn Tennis Set to Open 2021

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team will get their season underway on Sunday afternoon with a dual match at Army West Point at 2 pm. The Huskies are scheduled to play 15 dual matches this spring in the lead up to the BIG EAST Championship in April.
"The team and I are very much looking forward to getting on the tennis court and competing," stated head coach Glenn Marshall. "It has been a long, challenging year since we played any matches last February. Now that we have practiced for a few weeks, we look forward to getting our spring campaign started with our match at Army"
The Huskies lone senior is Elizabeth Kozyi who played mostly in the fall season last year. Junior Julieanne Bou played at No. 2 singles for much of the season last year and had three singles wins, including advancing to the semifinal of the Quinnipiac Invitational A Flight. In doubles pay, was 9-11 on the season, the second most doubles wins on the team. Junior Luciana Rabines led the Huskies with 10 doubles victories during her sophomore campaign and she finished 5-3 during the shortened spring dual match season. She had a team-best 7-4 mark when playing with freshman teammate Denise Lai.
Sophomore Caroline Cook posted a 6-11 singles record during a shortened rookie season and had three doubles wins as well. Classmate Denise Lai posted nine singles and eight doubles wins during her rookie season at UConn. She played at the No. 3 through 5 spots during the spring, going 4-5 in dual matches. She finished with five singles wins during the fall tournament schedule. Sophomore Doga Selen Takunyaci posted a 7-5 record in singles play during her freshman year, with the spring season cut short.
The Huskies will play at Army again next weekend before hosting five-straight at home.
