Metzler Named Big East Defensive Player of the Week

STORRS, Conn. – Junior midfielder Felix Metzler picked up Big East Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping UConn to a 3-0 victory over Sacred Heart and a 1-0 week.

Metzler gave the Huskies production on both sides pitch. On the defensive side, the Frankfurt, Germany native logged all 90 minutes of game action while helping to anchor a defense that limited the Pioneers to just four shot attempts. Offensively, Metzler notched the second of UConn's three goals, drilling a straight-line shot into the back of the cage in the 59^th minute of play.

The Huskies are back in action this Saturday as they'll be pitted against the Providence Friars to open up league play. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m.
