No. 1 UConn Travels to Creighton Thursday

STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women's basketball team (18-1, 15-0 BIG EAST) travels to Creighton (7-9, 6-6) for the first time in program history Thursday at 5 p.m. ET. The game will air on SNY and 97-9 ESPN.
UConn clinched at least a share of the BIG EAST regular season title with a win at Xavier last week. The Huskies can win the championship outright with a win Thursday or with a DePaul win on Wednesday.
Junior Christyn Williams scored 22 points to lead UConn past Xavier, 83-32, last Saturday. Freshman Aaliyah Edwards had her first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Olivia Nelson-Ododa and freshman Paige Bueckers each scored 11 points vs. the Musketeers. Nelson-Ododa added eight rebounds and six assists while Bueckers also had seven assists.
The Huskies are ranked No. 1 in the latest AP Poll. This is the 247th week all-time UConn has been ranked No. 1. The Huskies have earned the top spot in the poll in nine straight seasons and in 22 of the last 27 seasons. UConn has been ranked in the AP Poll for 523 consecutive weeks, including 296 straight weeks in the top 10.
This is just the third all-time meeting between the Huskies and Bluejays with UConn holding a 2-0 record. This is the second meeting between the teams this season. On Dec. 17, junior Olivia Nelson-Ododa scored 24 points to lead UConn past Creighton, 80-47, in Gampel Pavilion.
Creighton is coming off a 65-41 loss to Marquette on Monday. This season, Temi Carda leads the Bluejays with 13.9 points and 3.7 assists per game. Head coach Jim Flanery is in his 19th season at Creighton.
