Bouknight On BE Weekly Honor Roll
NEW YORK – Following solid victories last week at Seton Hall and at home against Georgetown, UConn forward Adama Sanogo has been named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, while sophomore James Bouknight has been named to the league's Weekly Honor Roll.
It is the second Freshman of the Week honor for Sanogo (Bamako, Mali), who also was cited on Feb. 15, and the fifth time that Bouknight (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named to the Honor Roll.
Sanogo had career highs of 16 points and 9 rebounds as UConn won at Seton Hall, 69-58, on Wednesday, hitting 7-of-11 from the floor and adding 2 blocked shots.
In the regular-season finale on Saturday, Sanogo produced his first career double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing a new career-high of 10 rebounds as the Huskies defeated Georgetown, 98-82. He also contributed an assist, a steal and 2 blocked shots.
For the week, Sanogo had a .647 field goal percentage and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the foul line.
Bouknight had 16 points and 6 rebounds in the victory at Seton Hall, also adding 2 assists and 1 steal. Against Georgetown, the sophomore scored 11 points in the first 7:00, jump-starting the Huskies to a huge lead that they never relinquished. For the game, Bouknight had a team-high 21 points, including 5 three-pointers, with 3 rebounds 2 assists and a blocked shot. For the week, he shot .500 (6-12) from three-point range.
