JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The UConn women's track & field team wrapped up their competition at the NCAA East Preliminaries on Saturday at the University of North Florida's Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium.
"Tonight we finished competition at the first round and quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships," commented associate head coach Rich Miller. "Our ladies competed to the very end leaving everything out there on the track. This year this team has overcome so much and I believe this team is just getting started. The competitions at the Big East Championships and NCAA Championships has made us stronger, hungrier and more focused as we prepare for next year."
Saturday's Results:
- In the High Jump – sophomore Patricia Mroczkowski (Berlin, Conn.) finished 18th overall with a height of 1.72 meters. Mroczkowski hit her first two heights at 1.67m and 1.72m on her first attempts. She missed at 1.77m which would have been a new PR for the sophomore.
- In the 3,000-meter steeplechase – senior Mia Nahom (New Fairfield, Conn.) finished in 20th place in the field with a time of 10:17.83.
- In the 5,000 meters – junior Randi Burr (Westerly, R.I.) finished 39th overall with a time of 17:04.75.
