Williams, France Win Bronze at Tokyo Olympics

TOKYO  – UConn women's basketball alumna Gabby Williams helped lead France to the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with a 91-76 win over Serbia on Saturday.
Williams led France with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the bronze medal game. She averaged 10.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in the Olympics.
This is France's second Olympic medal in women's basketball. Les Bleues won silver in London 2012.
Williams is the second UConn women's basketball alumna to win Olympic bronze. Svetlana Abrosimova won bronze with Russia in Beijing 2008.
In total, 12 different Huskies have medaled at the Olympics. Rebecca Lobo (1996), Kara Wolters (2000), Sue Bird (2004, '08, '12, '16), Swin Cash (2004, '12), Diana Taurasi (2004, '08, '12, '16), Tina Charles (2012, '16), Asjha Jones (2012), Maya Moore (2012, '16), Breanna Stewart (2016) and Stefanie Dolson (3x3, 2020) have all won gold with the United States.
Bird, Taurasi, Charles, Stewart and Napheesa Collier are seeking the United States' seventh straight gold medal tonight. USA faces host Japan at 10:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
Bird and Taurasi are looking to become the first basketball athletes in Olympic history with five gold medals.
