Huskies Host Rhode Island Friday Night

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team (1-0) returns to action as they host the Rhode Island Rams (1-1) on Friday Night. Kickoff is slated for 7:00pm at Morrone Stadium at the Rizza Family Sports Complex.

Last Time Out
The Huskies enter Friday's contest after an opening night victory against Bryant last week. Freshman Okem Chime scored twice while fellow freshman Mateo Leveque found the back of the net and added an assist as UConn took a 3-0 win to begin the campaign. Sophomore Moussa Wade also picked up an assist on Chime's first goal of the night. Graduate student Jahmali Waite made three saves to keep the clean sheet.
Scouting the Rams
Rhode Island comes to Storrs with a 1-1 overall record so far this season. After dropping the season opener to Hofstra 2-0, the Rams bounced back with a 2-0 win of their own over Central Connecticut on Monday, August 30th. Freshman Rafa Villanueva and senior Patrick Agyemeng scored the goals for URI, while redshirt senior Stefan Schmidt made two saves in the shutout.
Matchup History
UConn holds a 25-10-2 all-time record against Rhode Island, with a 15-4 mark at home. The last time these two teams met was in September of 2019, when UConn came out on top with a 3-1 win on the road in Kingston, Rhode Island. The teams have met four times since 2015, with the Huskies winning all four matches. UConn has also won the last 14 meetings, dating back to the 1982 season.
