Fans encouraged to bring a photo of a loved one
The UConn Men's Basketball team will host its annual Coaches vs. Cancer game on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 8:30 p.m. as the Huskies take on Georgetown at Gampel Pavilion.
When doors open at 7 p.m., fans will find Andrea Hurley, wife of UConn head coach Dan Hurley, and other spouses of our coaching staff at the Coaches vs. Cancer tables, located at the East and South Entrances of Gampel Pavilion. Fans are encouraged to bring a 3" photo or smallerย of a loved one who has been affected by cancer and join Mrs. Hurley in creating memorial buttons to wear during the game. Cancer awareness ribbons will also be available at the table for fans to wear.
Prior to tip-off, we will honor loved ones with a light ceremony in the stands. Please arrive early and be ready to take out your phone flashlight as we light up Gampel Pavilion in honor of those affected by the disease.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide initiative that empowers basketball coaches, their teams and their local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. The main goal is to increase cancer awareness, promote healthy living, and fundraise through fun activities.ย
