QUEENS, New York – The UConn men's soccer team (7-6-2, 3-3-2 BIG EAST) is set for a matchup with the St. John's Red Storm (4-7-4, 2-3-3 BIG EAST) Saturday night at Belson Stadium. Both the Huskies and the Red Storm are battling for a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament as UConn currently sits in 5th place with 11 points and St. John's in 8th with 9 points. UConn could clinch their spot with a win and a draw from either Creighton or Providence.
The Huskies are coming into Saturday's match unbeaten in their last five matches. UConn has gotten collective efforts from their forwards as they have had five different goal scorers on this five game run. Graduate transfer Frantz Pierrot leads the Huskies with five goals on the season. Pierrot scored two goals in the win over Stonehill on Wednesday. Sophomore Okem Chime has also been in good form for the Huskies as he has netted three goals in UConn's last five games. Scott Testori and Eli Conway also have three goals on the season and have played pivotal roles with Pierrot and Chime in the Huskies attack.
St. John's is coming off a loss to Butler last Saturday. They too had an unbeaten streak of four games that was snapped by Butler. UConn is 12-17-6 all-time against St. John's.
Kickoff is set for 7:00pm at Belson Stadium.
