KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UConn junior Adama Sanogo added another preseason honor on Thursday when he was named to the preseason watch list for the 2023 National Association of Basketball Coaches Division I Player of the Year Award.
Sanogo was one of 20 players selected from across the country named to the watch list.
Sanogo has already been named the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year and to the watch list for the 2023 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award.
Sanogo, who has been named team co-captain of the Huskies, is UConn's leading returning scorer and rebounder. He had 22 double-figure scoring games, 10 double-figure rebounding games and nine double-doubles last year on his way to a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
The 2023 NABC Division I Player of the Year - selected by a vote of Division I head coaches - will be announced the week of the 2023 Men's Final Four in Houston. Kentucky's Oscar Tshiebwe captured the award last season.
