No. 3 Huskies to Face Duke in Phil Knight Legacy

PORTLAND – The third-ranked UConn women's basketball team (3-0) is on the road for the first time in 2022-23 to take on Duke (5-0) in the Phil Knight Legacy tournament at the Chiles Center in Portland at 6 p.m. ET on Friday. The game will air on ESPN2 and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (97-9 ESPN).
Sophomore Azzi Fudd scored 32 points for the second straight game as Huskies earned their second-straight top-10 win over NC State, 91-69, last Sunday. Junior guard Nika Mühl set a personal best and a program record with 15 assists in the game.
Redshirt junior forward Aubrey Griffin made her first start of the season. She set a career high with six steals and added 16 points and six rebounds. Junior forward Aaliyah Edwards had her second double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Huskies had 38 points in the paint and 27 points off turnovers.
UConn is 12-3 all-time vs. Duke, including 11-3 under Geno Auriemma. The Huskies are 4-2 all-time vs. the Blue Devils at neutral sites. The teams last faced off on March 24, 2018, in the NCAA Tournament. This is the first matchup between head coaches Geno Auriemma and Kara Lawson.
Duke comes into Portland with a 5-0 record. The Blue Devils are coming off a 58-41 win over Toledo last Sunday. This season, Celeste Taylor leads the Blue Devils with 12.0 points per game. Head coach Kara Lawson is in her third season at Duke.
UConn will play its second game in the Phil Knight Legacy on Sunday against either Iowa or Oregon State.
