Huskies Beat Kutztown in Final Preseason Tuneup

HARTFORD, Conn. – Five Huskies scored in double digits as the UConn women's basketball team beat Kutztown, 115-42, in an exhibition on Sunday afternoon in the XL Center.
Sophomore Azzi Fudd led the game with 29 points and made nine three pointers. Fudd scored 23 of her points in the second half.
In her first contest in a UConn jersey, graduate student Lou Lopez Sénéchal wowed the Huskies fans in XL with 22 points, six rebounds and three steals. Fellow graduate student Dorka Juhász, back for her second season in Storrs, notched 20 points on 7-for-8 shooting and added seven rebounds and a pair of steals.
Junior Aaliyah Edwards was a force in the paint, scoring 17 points on 7-for9 shooting while adding six rebounds and two steals.
The reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, Nika Mühl picked up where she left off last season. She dished out 11 assists and notched eight rebounds, seven points, five steals and two blocks.
The Huskies went with Edwards, Fudd, Juhász, Lopez Sénéchal and Mühl as the starting five. The starters represent five different countries.
In her UConn debut, freshman Ayanna Patterson showed off her athleticism in XL. She finished the afternoon with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
After a slow start, the Huskies held Kutztown to just 24 points in the last three quarters. UConn came out of the half forcefully and scored 39 points in the third quarter, shooting 70 percent from the field.
The Huskies officially begin the 2022-23 season on Thursday against Northeastern at 7 p.m. in Gampel Pavilion. Tickets for the season opener are available HERE.
