Softball Signs Four To The Class Of 2027

STORRS, Conn. – UConn softball head coach Laura Valentino has announced the addition of four student-athletes to the class of 2027 on Wednesday afternoon.
The class consists of Caylee De Meo (INF), Kaitlyn Breslin (Utility), Rayah Snyder (INF), and Sarah Blaskiewicz (Catcher/Utility).
"The class of 2027 will bring an elevated level of passion for the game and desire to compete at the national level," said Valentino. "I believe their leadership will be a key component of the program's success for years to come. We are so excited to officially welcome these four student-athletes and their families to the UConn Softball program."
Caylee De Meo comes to UConn after lettering four seasons for head coach Anthony Turco at H. Frank Carey High School in Franklin Square, New York. The two-time team captain was an All-County player in 2021 and 2022 while being named school MVP. De Meo, a three sport athlete, holds four letters in basketball and three in volleyball receiving All-Conference and All-County honors in her secondary sports while serving as team captain for all three teams.
"Caylee plays with immense grit and fire to win," said Valentino. "We know that Caylee will bring her competitive presence to everything that she does at UConn, and we believe Caylee's true athleticism will be an asset to our program both offensively and defensively."
Kaitlyn Breslin arrives in Storrs after lettering four seasons for head coach Casey Bates at St. Mark's School in Southborough, Massachusetts. Breslin was named St. Mark's softball MVP last season along with being named Co-MVP of the Independent School League (ISL). The outfielder was also named to the Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic team in 2022, batting over .700 tallying 27 RBI's and six home runs. Breslin is also a four year letter winner in ice hockey at St. Mark's.
"Kaitlyn will bring power at the plate and admirable poise to UConn Softball," said Valentino. "Her infectious positive attitude will be contagious amongst the team and her coachable mindset will propel her career as a Husky."
Rayah Snyder joins the Huskies after playing for head coach Karen Costes at Glastonbury High School. The Connecticut native is a two-time CCC All-Conference player and two-time All-State Class LL player. Snyder, a three-time captain for the Tomahawks has a career .558 batting average with a .965 fielding percentage. She was also a two-time MVP in volleyball serving as team captain.
"Rayah's commitment shines when she plays this game and her drive is evident to always be the best version of herself," said Valentino. "We are all looking forward to coaching Rayah's discipline, athleticism, and work ethic."
Sarah Blaskiewicz becomes a Husky after playing five seasons for head coach Tiffany Rowan at Sayville High School in Sayville, New York. The three-time team captain was named to the top 100 players on Long Island along with being League V Field Player of the Year twice, second team All-State, All-County twice, and second team All-Long Island. Blaskiewicz was named Rookie of the Year in 2019 leading Sayville to a Long Island Championship. She has batted over .400 every year with an impressive .573 batting average last season. Blaskiewicz, a three sport athlete at Sayville also holds four letters in basketball and two in volleyball. She also serves as team captain on the basketball team.
"Sarah's determination to impact those around her and her genuine selflessness will impact our team immediately," said Valentino. "Sarah will bring versatility to our program along with strong character which will impact our championship culture on and off the field."
The Huskies will look to carry momentum into the 2023 season after winning the BIG EAST regular season title last year.
