UConn Men Solid at Rutgers and BU Meets

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's track & field team had athletes competing at both the Rutgers Open in New York and the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational this weekend.
UConn junior Wellington Ventura (Cresskill, N.J.) got a win in the 400 meters for the third-straight week, running his fastest time of the indoor season and now sits in 26th in the NCAA rankings in the event. Freshman Terrel Williams (Maplewood, N.J.) earned his third win this season in the 60 meter hurdles at the Rutgers meet while in the field events at the Armory in New York City, senior Daniel Claxton (Nesconset, N.Y.) won in the high jump and junior Travis Snyder (Saco, Maine) took home a win in the pole vault.
On the track…
- Junior Wellington Ventura (Cresskill, N.J.) got a win in the 400 meters for the third straight week, beating the field with a time of 46.63, his fastest time this indoor season.
- Senior Eric Van Der Els (Norwalk, Conn.) finished 10th in the mile, posting a time of 3:59.81. Sophomore Kevin Cawley (Massapequa, N.Y.) posted a new PR in the mile, clocking in at 4:07.38.
- Sophomore Marzio Mastroianni (Branford, Conn.) was 21st in the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.69, just .03 off his personal best time. Freshman Mahamed Sharif (Westbrook, Maine) was 26th in a time of 1:51.37
- Junior James Maniscalco (Fairfield, Conn.) ran the 5,000 meters and finished with a time of 14:18.73. Sophomore Christopher Lepore (Trumbull, N.Y.) posted a new PR in the event, clocking in at 14:25.66.

On the track…
- Freshman Terrel Williams (Maplewood, N.J.) got his third win this indoor season in the 60 meter hurdles, topping the field on Saturday with a time of 7.84 seconds.
- Josiah Thompson (Jamacia, N.Y.) was fifth in the 60 meter dash, clocking a 6.97 seconds.
In the field…
- Junior Travis Snyder (Saco, Maine) got a win in the pole vault with a height of 5.21 meters. Classmate Tyler Hrbek (Northvale, N.J.) was fourth at 4.91 meters.
- Senior Daniel Claxton (Nesconset, N.Y.) got his second win this indoor season in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.10 meters.
- Sophomore Richmond Kwaateng (Lowell, Mass.) took third in the long jump championship field with a leap of 7.30 meters. Freshman Marc Morrison (Orlando, Fla.) matched his PR with a jump of 7.18 meters to finish fifth. Senior Jordan Torney (Toms River, N.J.) was sixth at 7.06 meters. Morrison was seventh in the triple jump at 13.80 meters.
- Senior Christopher Keegan (West Hartford, Conn.) took fifth in the weight throw championship field with a throw of 18.05 meters.
- Senior Matthew Brady (Biddeford, Maine) was eighth in the championship shot put field, with a throw of 15.95 meters. In the college field of the shot put, sophomore Tyler Lyon (Albuquerque, N.M.) got a new PR at 15.32 meters and finished fourth. Freshman Travis Roux (Northport, N.Y.) also set a new PR at 14.35 meters, good for sixth.
