NEW YORK - N.Y. - For the second consecutive week, senior Sydney Watson of the UConn women's lacrosse team has been named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Watson stuffed the stat sheet with 11 goals, four assists, 15 points, 26 draw controls and three ground balls in guiding the Huskies to convincing wins over UMass Lowell and New Hampshire.
The senior started her week with six goals and eight points against the River Hawks, and followed with a seven-point effort on five goals and two assists versus the Wildcats. Watson amassed 13 draw controls in each contest, and her 26 draw controls for the week were the most of any player in the conference.
Watson currently leads the BIG EAST in goals (16), points (22), and draw controls (36). She has led the Huskies in goals and points in three of their first four games, and has been the top threat on the draw in all four.
