UConn to Host Cornell Sunday at Morrone Stadium

STORRS, Conn. - Riding a four-game win streak, the UConn women's lacrosse team will take Joseph J. Morrone Stadium for the first time this season as it hosts Cornell on Sunday, March 13 at 1 p.m.
UConn overmatched Manhattan 16-6 Wednesday afternoon inside the Shenkman Training Facility to improve to 2-0 in Storrs. Wednesday's game was moved indoors due to inclement weather, marking the second time this season the Huskies have played indoors this season.
Senior Sydney Watson is leading the BIG EAST in goals (20), goals per game (3.3), points per game (4.3), draw controls (52) and draw controls per game (8.6). Watson has led the Huskies in scoring in three of six games and is riding a 28-game point streak that dates back to 2020.
Junior Ariana Kline is the team's top defender as she leads the Huskies in caused turnovers (10) and ranks second in ground balls (10). Kline anchored the defense to limit the Jaspers to one goal in the first half.
The Huskies are off to their first 5-1 start since the 2016 season. UConn the only team in the BIG EAST that has produced multiple 20-goal outings this season. At its current offensive pace, the Huskies are poised to break the single-season records in goals, points and shots they set last season.
SCOUTING CORNELL
The Big Red outscored Colgate 7-0 in the fourth quarter to take a 17-6 victory on Wednesday to improve to 3-2 on the season. Amanda Cramer leads the team in goals (11) and points (13), while Katie Castiello is one point behind and is the top assist provider (4). Head coach Jenny Graap is in her 25th season at the helm of the program and has guided the Big Red to five NCAA Tournament appearance during her tenure.
THE SERIES
Sunday will mark the first matchup between the two programs.
