UConn Wins USTFCCCA Regional Awards

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's track & field team took home a pair of U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Northeast Regional awards for the 2022 indoor season. Junior Travis Snyder (Saco, Maine) was tabbed as the USTFCCCA Field Athlete of the Year and head coach Greg Roy was named the USTFCCCA Northeast Coach of the Year for the second-straight season.
Snyder, who hails from Saco, Maine, broke a UConn school record in the pole vault with a mark of 5.40m (17-8¼), which sent him to victory at the IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships. At the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, Snyder won the pole vault and finished sixth in the pentathlon to help the Huskies win the team title.
Roy led the Huskies to team titles at the Big East Indoor Championships and IC4A Championships. At the Big East Championships, Roy's athletes collected 10 event crowns and Kasey Savage was named the High Point Performer of the Meet, while the Huskies staff was named Coaching Staff of the Year. Connecticut had an undefeated regular season with wins at the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge and Beantown Challenge.
