Jarrod Gourley and Darion Hanson Sign Pro Deals

STORRS, Conn. - UConn grad students Jarrod Gourley (Calgary, Alberta) and Darion Hanson (East Bethel, Minn.) both signed pro contracts this week. Gourley inked an ATO deal with the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL, the AHL affiliate of the Utica Comets and the NHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. Hanson signed an PTO contract with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL, the affiliate of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers.
Gourley transferred to UConn after a three-year stay at Arizona State. This season, Gourley, a defenseman, appeared in 35 games and was a +5 on the year. He finished with three goals and four assists for seven points and blocked 28 shots. During his collegiate career, he played in 125 games and registered 27 points on 10 goals and 17 assists. He blocked 150 total shots and was +7.
Hanson came to UConn after three seasons at Union. He started 35 games this year and set a new UConn school record with 20 wins in goal. He posted a 2.24 goals against average and a .923 save percentage, ranked sixth and third in Hockey East, respectively. He played the third most minutes of any goalie in the league and made 932 saves, second among league leaders. He was named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Week three times during the season. Over his collegiate career, he played in 113 total games with a 2.45 goals against and a .916 save percentage.
