Huskies Draw Villanova in First Round of BIG EAST Championship

STORRS, Conn. - The seeding and schedule has been set for the 2022 BIG EAST Tennis Championship Presented by Jeep, set to take place from Thursday, April 21 through Sunday, April 24 at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C. The Huskies will be the No. 9 seed and open the tournament in the first round of action Thursday morning against No. 8 seeded Villanova.
The winner of Thursday's 9 am match between the Huskies and Wildcats will move on to the quarterfinals and face the No. 1 seed St. John's on Friday at approximately 12:45 pm. Saturday will feature the semifinal round and the championship will take place on Sunday at 1 pm and will be streamed live on the BIG EAST Digital Network Presented by SoFi on FloSports.
UConn finished the regular season with a 9-11 overall dual match record and were 2-3 against teams from the BIG EAST. The Huskies and Wildcats already met once this season with UConn losing in a hard fought 4-3 battle at Villanova on April 10. UConn opened up the match by winning the doubles point thanks to wins at the top-two spots but lost four of the six singles bouts, two of which came in three-set battles, to drop the match.
