Softball takes the series against Creighton, winning 5th straight game

Storrs, CT – UConn wins game two against Creighton 7-3, taking their fifth straight series.
Meghan O'Neil got the start in game two for the Huskies, going 2.2 innings with two strikeouts.
The Huskies scored early and often getting runs across in the first four innings. They took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jana Sanden singled to right field to score Briana Marcelino. Reese Guevarra scored in a ground out to extend the lead.
UConn added to the lead in the second with Marcelino's double down the right field line to score Sami Barnett. Marcelino later scored to make it 4-0 Huskies.
The Blue Jays responded in the third with three runs to make it 4-3 Huskies. UConn responded right back in the third with a run to make it 5-3.
Elise Sokolsky came in relief for O'Neil, and closed out the game pitching 4.1 innings only giving up two hits and striking out seven.
The Huskies added some insurance in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-3. Marcelino singled to left field to score Barnett. Pinch runner, Hollis Wivell, came around to score on a ground out by Hastings.
The Huskies move to 12-2 in BIG EAST play and will look to complete the series sweep tomorrow at 11:00am.
