Dan Hurley, Bob Hurley Sr. To Appear At Hall Of Fame

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – UConn men's basketball Coach Dan Hurley and his father, Hall of Fame Coach Bob Hurley Sr., will appear together at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday, Aug. 12, as part of the Hall of Fame's "Hoophall Hangouts" series going on this summer.
The Hurleys will appear at 1 p.m. for an interview session about their lives in the family business of playing and coaching basketball at all levels. That will be followed by a question-and-answer period and an autograph session.
Dan Hurley is entering his fifth season as the UConn head coach after leading the Huskies to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. He has 224 career coaching victories, 73 at UConn, and has posted 20-win seasons at three different programs – Wagner, Rhode Island and UConn. He was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2018 and has twice been named USBWA District I Coach of the Year.
As the coach for 39 years of powerhouse high school program St. Anthony of Jersey City, N.J., Bob Hurley Sr. amassed four national championships, 28 state championships and nearly 1,200 victories. He was named USA Today National Coach of the Year three times and was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2010.
Since his retirement in 2017, he has been in charge of the Hurley Family Foundation's free basketball program for youngsters in grades 3-12 in Jersey City.
