Leveque named to preseason all-conference team, UConn voted to finish eighth

NEW YORK – The UConn Men's soccer team has been voted to finish eighth in the BIG EAST preseason coaches' poll released on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Mateo Leveque was selected to the preseason All-BIG EAST team.
Leveque led the Huskies last season in points with twelve, scoring three goals and notching six assists. He was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and was selected to the All-BIG EAST Third Team.
UConn is coming into the 2022 season with a new head coach in Chris Gbandi and much of their roster returning from last season. The Huskies will look to veteran leaders in Jayden Reid and Moussa Wade, two of UConn's top three point getters last year. Reid and Wade combined for eleven out of the Huskies 24 assists last season along with five goals between them. UConn also returns their leading goal scorer, Sophomore Okem Chime who had four goals including the game winner in overtime against Monmouth last season.
The Huskies will kick off their season on Thursday, August 25th against Charlotte in Storrs, Connecticut. Tickets are on sale HERE.
