Four New Huskies Coming to UConn this Fall

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis program announced the additions of four student-athletes for the 2022-23 season, welcoming freshman Cameron Didion and transfers Nansi Toskova, Olivia Wright and Maria Constantinou to Storrs.
"I am very excited to announce our fall 2022 Incoming Women's Tennis class," stated Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall. "Three of the players are transfers and have Division I experience, and the fourth is a freshman who comes in from one of the top tennis academies in the country. They are from all over the globe, coming from Virginia, Florida, Canada and Cyprus. With these talented players and five returning starters from last year's squad, we are very excited to get the season started."
Maria Constantinou, So., Nicosia, Cyprus / University of Delaware
Constantinou transfers in to UConn after spending last season at Delaware. She joined the Blue Hens for the spring semester and played to an unbeaten 10-0 singles mark and a 5-0 doubles record. She finished 5-0 playing at No. 5 singles and 4-0 in the No. 6 position. Prior to attending Delaware, Constantinou attended The English School Nicosia from 2015-2022. She represented Cyprus at all junior events between the ages of 12 and 18 and became a member of the Cyprus Fed Cup team in 2019. She set a career high with an ITF Junior Ranking of 625 in the summer of 2021, going 19-12 in ITF doubles matches during 2021 that included 11 wins on clay surfaces.
Nansi Toskova, So., Montreal, Quebec / Georgia State
Toskova is a junior transfer from Georgia State but will have sophomore eligibility when she comes to Storrs for the fall. Toskova did not see action last season at Georgia State. She made her collegiate debut in the spring of 2021 at Georgia State, earning a pair of doubles wins and a singles victory. In the classroom, she earned dean's list honors three times and was on the 2022 Spring Athletic Director's honor roll. She earned 2020-21 Sun Belt Commissioner's list honors as well. Prior to Georgia State, Toskova attended Ecole Secondaire Des Sources school. She won the U18 Doubles Provincial Outdoors title and was a U16 Sectional winner. She also participated in ITF and Nationals play.
Olivia Wright, So., Glen Allen, Va. / Providence College
Wright will come to UConn after a season at Providence. She picked-up 12 wins in singles action playing the season at No. 1 as a freshman. In the spring, she had eight wins including a five-match winning streak. In doubles play, she won seven matches playing with Julia Migliorini. Prior to Providence, Wright attended Deep Run High School in Glen Allen, Virginia, while training at Raintree Swim and Racquet Club. During high school, she won state doubles titles in 2018, 2019, and 2021. In 2021 she won regionals in singles, and made it to the state semifinals and also helped lead her team to state titles in 2018 and 2019, while playing #1 singles and doubles. Wright was named an All-Metro player in 2018, 019 and 2021 and was named All-Metro Player of the Year. While also playing high school tennis, I played sectional and national tournaments reaching a ranking of #4 in the Mid-Atlantic and #76 nationally.
Cameron Didion, Fr., Orlando, Fla. / Winter Park HS
Didion comes to Storrs after a year of training at IMG, leaving as one of the programs most improved players and winning a pair of Bobby Curtis doubles titles in juniors. Playing in high school, she held down the No. 1 position at Winter Park High School. Last fall, she played n the ITF circuit, competing in Nicaragua, Latvia, Canada and the U.S. Was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Girls C Division in the 2019 Decoturf High School Tennis Team Championship all tournament team awards. Her mom was a Division I tennis player at Morgan State.
