Three Huskies Earn All-New England Status

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team had three players earn 2022 Division I NEWISA All-New England accolades with Lucy Cappadona landing on the First Team and Jessica Mazo and Chioma Okafor being voted to the Third Team.Â
Cappadona started all 18 matches in the back for the Huskies and helped UConn notch six shutouts. Marlborough, Mass. native was second on the team with 1603 minutes played and also contributed a pair of goals including a game-winner against Yale in the 84th minute.Â
Mazo earns All-New England honors for the second time in her career. The Bridgeport, Conn. native played in all 18 matches and scored a pair of goals out of the UConn midfield.Â
Okafor garnered All-BIG EAST Second Team status and also landed on the All-Freshman Team after leading the Huskies with six goals this season. The Blantyre, Malawi native scored five of her six goals against conference foes including a hat trick against Seton Hall and a goal in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals against St. John's.
