No. 5 UConn to Face Tennessee Thursday

STORRS, Conn. – The fifth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (18-2) faces a tough test as the Huskies travel to Tennessee (16-6) on Thursday at 8 p.m. The game will air on ESPN and the UConn Sports Network (97-9 ESPN).
ESPN will air College GameDay ahead of the UConn-Tennessee game beginning at 7 p.m.
The Huskies picked up a dominant 94-51 win over DePaul on Monday. Junior Aaliyah Edwards led the team with 23 points and added 10 rebounds. Redshirt junior Aubrey Griffin notched 18 points and 11 rebounds. UConn's graduate students continued their consistency as Lou Lopez Sénéchal scored 20 points and Dorka Juhász added 19. Junior Nika Muhl notched her eighth game with double-digit assists this season. The Huskies scored 58 points in the paint and tied their season high with 59 rebounds.
UConn is 16-9 all-time vs. Tennessee. UConn and Tennessee are the two most storied programs in women's basketball history. The programs have combined for 19 national championships. After a 12-year hiatus, teams revived their historic rivalry in 2019-20. UConn has won the three games in the new series. The Huskies won last year's matchup, 75-56, in Hartford.
Tennessee is coming off a 68-65 win over Missouri last Sunday. Sara Puckett led the team with 17 points in the game. This season, Rickea Johnson leads the Lady Vols with 18.0 points per game. Jordan Horston is averaging 15.2 and a team-high 6.9 rebounds. Head coach Kellie Harper is in her fourth season at Tennessee.
UConn's future continues to look bright as Class of 2023 recruits KK Arnold and Ashlynn Shade were named McDonald's All-Americans on Tuesday.
