No. 5 Huskies Take on Xavier Thursday

CINCINNATI – The fifth-ranked UConn women's basketball team (12-2, 5-0 BIG EAST) travels to Xavier (7-7, 0-5) on Thursday at 7 p.m. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (97-9 ESPN).
Junior Aaliyah Edwards had 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals to lead UConn past Butler, 80-47, on Tuesday. Five Huskies finished with double-digit points vs. the Bulldogs: Edwards, redshirt junior Aubrey Griffin (15), junior Nika Mühl (13), graduate student Dorka Juhász (12) and graduate student Lou Lopez Sénéchal (11). UConn had 13 steals in the game and scored 30 points off turnovers. The Huskies out-rebounded the Bulldogs 34-20.
UConn is 5-0 all-time vs. Xavier. The Huskies won both regular season matchups between the teams last season: a 78-41 win in Hartford on Jan. 15 and an 89-35 win in Cincinnati on Feb. 18.
Xavier fell to Villanova, 77-49, last Sunday. Courtney Prenger led the Musketeers with 12 points in the game. This season, Mackayla Scarlett leads Xavier with 12.9 points per game. Head coach Melanie Moore is in her fourth season at Xavier.
The 2022-23 campaign marks the 11th season of SNY as the television home of the UConn women's basketball team. In 10 seasons, the Huskies have lost just one game when competing on SNY. UConn holds a 171-1 record when playing on the network. SNY will air 18 UConn games this season.
