STORRS, Conn. – Nine University of Connecticut athletics teams posted perfect Graduation Success Rates (GSR), and a total of 16 squads performed at 90 percent or higher, as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday, December 6.
Teams that earned a GSR score of 100 percent included baseball, women's basketball, field hockey, men's golf, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, softball, women's tennis, and volleyball.
The GSR data shows the percentage of student-athletes earning a degree within six years of entering college. The NCAA developed the GSR to account for student-athletes not tracked by the federal graduation rate, which includes transfers into UConn and student-athletes who transferred from UConn in good academic standing. 2023 GSR numbers are based on entering classes from 2013 to 2016.
"To see our score increase for the third-straight year speaks to the hard work of our student-athletes and our academic support system," stated director of athletics David Benedict. "We are proud of our high standards of success here at UConn, both in the classroom and in competition. The tremendous success of our student-athletes is an achievement our university and all of UConn Nation can take pride in."
UConn had an overall GSR score of 94 percent, which eclipsed the 93 percent score achieved in 2022 and the 92 percent score during 2020 and 2021. UConn's 2019 mark was 90 percent, and the 2018 GSR was 89 percent.
